  19. ‘No talent required’
Apart from the woodworking ability with making the jig, having knowledge and experience of multiple ways of routing PLUS how to achieve different effects, using up-cycled wood – you would also need skills in cutting and finishing wood – which an entire CAREER is based around – called ‘Wood Machinist’. So maybe this does require no talent, but a hell of a lot of practice. Which is called SKILL. Talent is really just your ability to do something naturally. I don’t know anybody that can ‘naturally’ use routers and wood working power tools, whether hand held or stand alone. I’ve been hand planing wood with a Bosch planer for a couple of months now – I’m only just getting to the point where I make perfect surfaces without thinking about it. And this is ONE TINY skill involved with sign making.

Your ideas are great, and your demonstration are even more superb. Thank you very much for showing us all! This title is complete crap though. You are vastly under appreciating your own skill, the hours of practice you have put in and all the times you have fucked up and started again by saying that. Small thing, not too sure why it irks me so much – with such thought in the video I think I’ll allow the silly title stand ๐Ÿ˜›

Nice work again man, pretty unique way of doing this. Personally, I just use a cheap (but powerful) plunge router. This might be a good way to go in the future. Have you done much Dremel engraving or anything before? If you can do this, you would make some pretty neat engraving too ๐Ÿ™‚ All the best for 2017 buddy.

  20. It was referring the a talent in carving…which I don’t have as compared to Dave Rhoten or the guys you see at the fair carving freehand. As to the rest…if you saw the stuff up close you would question how much skill I actually have ๐Ÿ˜‰
