  6. The dove tail trick was a really neat.

  7. Amen Brother! Norm is boss!!!!

  8. Thanks 🙂

  9. norm forever, he is like the Chuck Norris of wood working

  10. “If it’s good enough for Norm, it’s good enough for me.” That needs to be a t-shirt!!

  11. I feel like 3/4 is serious overkill for the bottom of a drawer…

  12. whats the point of the faux dovetails? does it actually add any strength or is it simply for aesthetics?

  13. scratch that. i just heard your answer at 10:30

  14. You are awsome bro great person too

  15. What’s the point of the pieced in kitchen floor? Why not use full sheets?

  16. smashing pumpkins 😍

  17. I’ve always thought you’ve had a Norm Abrams style of delivery, just a more casual. Great video!

  19. haha  ‘nough said.

  20. Beautiful job on the table saw Top!!!

  21. you are here saying exactly what I needed to hear about me making a missing drawer here at my house. Thank you John. Thank you universe. Be well

  22. I love the fake dove tails. Really smart! I actually like the whole drawer design: simple but super strong and easy to build.

  23. just as long as you dont use 3/4″ for the drawer box sides! whenever I see that I always think it looks clunky and amateur. Probably not a fair assessment but it is just so completely unnecessary and waste of material. I do 1/2″ sides using good high quality ply that I can just sand the edge and it looks nice with no edge tape or strips added and then 1/4″ bottoms that slide into a dado 1/2″ up from the bottom to accommodate under mount glides.I do have some problems with wider drawers racking sometimes……perhaps switching to 3/4 bottoms would be a good solution and that eliminates the need for a dado slot. Also loved your mini crosscut sled, looks more stable than just using a miter gauge. I very much enjoyed your video.

  24. I get it, this method is fast, real fast. But for your own home take the time to do your drawers with dado’s and a simple drawer lock system. It will never fail.

  25. Thanks for this tutorial. It’s extremely helpful! I’m about to make a set of cabinets for my cottage and this makes it all seem very do-able. I’m going to check out the rest of your videos as well. Cheers!

  26. I build it home, do you also build skateboard ramps? I’ve evolved from ramps to cabinets myself. Like the shirt.

  27. hilarious ending! also neat secret @fake dovetail. thanks.

  28. I’d buy that shirt!

  29. Dave Redman Maybe you should reconsider your comment. The I Build It community doesn’t have a need for comments that degrade the work of others, especially the content creator. Constructive criticism I’m sure is both appreciated and encouraged. He built his drawer as it clearly said in the title and the video. This was a quick way to build a drawer. In his experience he likes a 3/4″ base if you don’t by all means use your 1/2″ base.

  32. He stated up front that he chose to build his drawers different.  And, that he was using some shortcut methods.
BTW, those dovetail inserts will add extra strength and probably good enough for what HE wants.

There is never a good reason for disparaging remarks.
