βœ… IKEA Lack shelf no drilling no nails on wall

Command Picture & Frame Hanging Strips

IKEA LACK

2018 Update video:

In this video, I'll show you how I put up some shelves without drilling or nails into walls or studs. By using 3m Command picture frame strips, you can remove the shelf without damaging the wall. The shelf attaches via the command velcro-like strips and can easily be detached for re-positioning. The strips can then be removed from the wall without leaving any holes.

I use this method to put action figures and other small items. Heavy items are not recommended. I estimate it can probably hold up to 5lbs of stuff.

  6. “No drilling No NAILS” 1:50 Uses nails

  7. You’re using “NAILS” @ 2:00 minutes.

  8. Dude he meant no nails in the wall.

  9. “NO NAILS” means NO NAILS! Period!

  10. I’m pretty sure they meant no nails IN THE WALL which they kept true to.

  11. he said you can use a staple gun. therefore you can do this with no nails

  24. Hi, I like the idea but how are you going to remove it? it will be nice if you can make a video about that too..because I don’t see any extra tag popping out to pull the 3M strip.

  25. +Bee Creatiwe hi the command strips I link to in the description has the round tabs that you pull to remove them.

  28. yeah, I use command strips all the time and I am wondering how you are going to remove the lack shelf without damaging the wall…To remove the shelf neat and clean, you have to slowly pull the tab ( usually popping outside and visible) parallel to the wall. But this is a very nice video..i like it!

  29. +Bee Creatiwe I love command strips too and try to find unique ways to use them.

  30. Anand Kumar thanks for the tip! I want to put towels on them so it think it should work

  31. Danyelle Milton definitely will honey

  32. No one ever mentions how expensive these strips are.

  33. Off course its available in India.. Both online and offline

  34. Deepa Kulkarni online. Try ebay or Amazon

  35. They are the picture strips. They are almost like Velcro. You attach one side to the shelf and one to the wall and you can remove and reattach. The strips are hidden when they are together but when you pull them apart you have access to the pull tabs. I use them at home and really like them.

  36. OH! now I get it! thanks so much for the explanation! Brilliant idea!

  37. madhusudhana devi it cant

  38. It’s a useful tips im gonna try it…πŸ˜ƒ

  39. +K.s. Veeraiyan yes try. Mine are still holding strong on the wall since I put them up.

  40. Can I use these with regular lack shelves like does I️t only have to be with corner shelves

  41. +Teresa Nguyen you need corners. The only way it’ll be supported properly.

  42. Just Kat > BUT he did use damn nails instead of staples πŸ™‚

  43. Rai2M true but I think he meant no nails in the wall

  44. because its the wrong thing to use regardless, the entire point of the strip is its removability, which requires you to stretch it using the tab like chewing gum so it loses its grip, so the tabs have to stick out, and the strips can’t be nailed.
When his shelf fails its going to pancake world trade tower style, its just a bad idea.
Plus the adhesive strip rating is for weight pulling straight down from a hook, the levering force of a shelf reduces the hold rating to nothing. Any double sided tape strong enough to make this work would cause more damage to your wall than a screw would.

  45. Use nails 2:00

  46. Glad I found this video. I was thinking of using these command strips for some floating shelves but didn’t realise they need to be put in a corner. Very useful video, thanks for uploading!
